In The Investment Banking Leaders Podcast

Welcome to Episode 4 of The Investment Banking Leaders Podcast hosted by Altrum’s Deal Toy Global Head, Peter Nieberg! Our mission is to connect as many of you with successful investment banking leaders as possible.

Episode 4’s guest is Rusty Ray, Managing Partner at Alantra. His career began at Brocair Partners, where he led M&A, recaps, and private placements. Rusty specializes in the healthcare sector and has amassed over 20 years of experience in the investment banking industry. Joining Alantra in 2019, Rusty is an expert in his field and deeply understands all things biosciences, pharma, life sciences, and medical devices.

While Rusty encourages taking a break from work, he knows it can be tough to leave at the door. One of his favorite ways to refresh is to start the day off with a morning workout. Focusing on yourself in that moment will allow you to bring your all later on in the office.

One of the best pieces of advice Rusty gave us in this episode was to be open. Everyone has their roles, but it is important to be as flat as one can be in terms of an organizational hierarchy; analysts are not expected to go out and generate business, but they should never be dissuaded from taking risks, interfacing with clients, and trying their hand at more advanced work.

If you’d like to learn more about Rusty, his leadership style, and some helpful tips and tricks to advance your career in the industry, tune into Episode 4 on your preferred streaming platform!
